HEAT Kids Triathlon Celebrating 18th Anniversary
Hendersonville, Tenn. On Saturday morning, August 5, 2023, the HEAT Kids Triathlon will welcome youth athletes from across Tennessee and neighboring states to experience the thrill of competition. Celebrating its 18-year anniversary, the event will benefit ABLE Youth, a nonprofit organization that uses sports as a catalyst to help children aged 3-22 who use wheelchairs to become independent in life.
The HEAT Kids Tri is open to children of all abilities ages 6 through 15. Distances and courses are designed to be age appropriate with both junior and senior athlete categories. There will be overall and age group winners for both male and female athletes.
“We are excited to be celebrating a decade and a half of supporting youth in leading a healthy, active life,” said race director, Sean Torr. “The race was started by a group of local triathletes who wanted to share the love of triathlon with their children. Today, thanks to the support of the local community and committed volunteers we are able to host nearly 200 athletes from 37 cities and three states.”
For youth who want to preview the August 6th race course or learn about the sport of triathlon, HEAT is offering the free Jon Hall Kids Triathlon Training Clinic on July 23rd from 2:30 – 4:30 p.m. at the Sumner County YMCA. Clinic attendees will swim, bike, run, and learn how to transition from one sport to the other on the actual course. In addition, Biker’s Choice will be offering a free bike handling class.
