I’m a PTA (physical therapist assistant). Mom of 2 kids, Mikayla (10 years old) and Luke (7 years old). Married to Mike, live in Portland. This will be my 3rd “season” doing triathlon. Season ended early last year after a bike wreck. My main focus this season is Chattanooga 70.3. I also plan to complete a few half marathons,… varied sprint/Olympic distance tri, and hopefully finish the year out with Rocket City 26.2.
- How many years have you been in triathlon? 2
- How many years have you been apart of HEAT? 2
- How did you get started in triathlon? My husband had been doing tris for a little while and loved it. At the time I was just a runner and wanted to give try something different. After my first race, I was hooked!!!
- What is your favorite discipline? Run
- What distances have you competed in?
- Intermediate
- Sprint
- What has been your favorite race? I think it would have to be ADpi. It’s where I got hooked!!!
- What is your go-to nutritional product for training/racing? I like vanilla bean gu for the run and gu roctane mix on the bike.
- What serves as your motivation to keep going when the training or the race seems too hard? My husband keeps me pretty accountable and in check. But mostly, I was in an accident that kept me from training last year. I know there are people out there who want to train or would love to be doing what I’m doing, but physically can’t, those people keep me motivated.
- What does your normal training week look like? Swim 2x, run 3x, and bike 3x. I try my best to get it in but we all know life happens and sometimes 2 swims don’t happen. Most training happens early morning before the kiddos start their day.
- What is your first thought after finishing a triathlon?Accomplishment!!!
